Job Description

The Specialisterne Academy is recruiting!

The Specialisterne Academy is a fully online, 8-week employment prep program for autistic learners to get a comprehensive blend of technical and soft skill instruction to prepare for the demands of the IT industry.

What makes this program unique?
  • Earn industry-recognized credentials
  • Self-directed eLearning through IBM SkillsBuild, plus real-time instructor-led programming by our partners at Aspiritech
  • Practical, hands-on exercises
  • Small class sizes and supportive coaches
  • Focus on social and professional skills, not just technology
  • It’s free!

Can I apply if I already have IT knowledge and/or experience?

  • This program is best for those looking to build entry-level IT skills.
  • The Academy may not be the right fit if you have completed a degree or training in IT/Computer Science or related fields or if you have experience in a technical field.

Will I receive a job at the end of the Academy?

  • The Academy is an employment prep program, and a job is not guaranteed at the end.
  • Academy participants graduate from the program with an IT Support Technician Certification, as well as applied industry-specific experience and work readiness training.

Check our website to learn more about the program, what you will learn, and get answers to frequently-asked questions.

Applications for all upcoming cohorts will be accepted on a rolling basis. The upcoming cohorts include:
  • Cohort 3: January to February 2026
  • Cohort 4: May to June 2026
  • Cohort 5: September to October 2026

  • Be authorized to work lawfully in the United States
  • Be available to participate in a full-time 8-week program
  • Be a high school graduate prior to the cohort you're interested in
  • Be interested in learning about Information Technology
  • Be motivated to seek employment in the IT field

Program Readiness:

To be successful, you must:

  • Be able to learn and collaborate in a virtual environment
  • Have reliable access to internet, a computer, and a suitable workspace
  • Be available online 9am-5pm (ET), Monday-Friday for the duration of the course
  • Be able to complete 2-4 hours of independent reading and eLearning each day
  • Be comfortable with basic digital tasks like browsing the web, sending emails, and using video calling technology (video camera is required for group sessions)

The Recruitment Process:

Application

  • Fill out the online application and select the option that best describes your situation for each question to help Specialisterne understand your eligibility for the program.

Assessment

  • Eligible applicants will be asked to complete an online learner profile and an online skills assessment to showcase your motivation to learn about IT and build new skills.
  • Applicants who meet program expectations will be invited to book an online discussion meeting with Specialisterne to chat about the information you share in your profile.

Onboarding

  • Selected candidates will be invited to begin the Academy onboarding process.
  • For onboarding, participants will create an online learner account in IBM SkillsBuild and attend a virtual Meet and Greet session with the Academy team to get the information you will need to get started in the program.
  • Candidates who are not selected may be waitlisted for participation in future cohorts.

If you have questions, need assistance or would like to request accommodation for any of these steps, please contact us at academy.usa@specialisterne.com .
