PUBLIC HEALTH EDUCATOR (HELPS PROGRAM)

2025 Hire Rate: $30.00/hr (37.50 hrs/wk).
The Madison County Public Health Department seeks a full-time Public Health Educator. The work involves
assisting in the development, delivery, and evaluation of public health education services, programs, and messaging
to promote healthy behaviors and address community health needs. This is the entry level of professional public
health education work. Assignments are normally limited to those tasks which do not require advanced training or
experience. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Health Director and the direct
supervision of the Public Health Emergency Coordinator. The incumbent does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Either:
(A) Possession of a Bachelor's degree, or higher, with a major in public health, health education, health promotion,
health communication or a closely related field; OR
(B) Possession of a Bachelor's degree and two (2) years’ of full-time paid, or it part-time equivalent, experience in
health education, health promotion or health communication.
NOTE:
1. Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience
requirements.
2. Degree(s) must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national or specialized
agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of
Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside of the United States and its
territories, the candidate must provide independent verification of equivalency. A list of acceptable
