Power Generator Technician – Data Center Support
Pay: $45+ per hour (DOE) | Home Daily | Take-Home Truck | Overtime Available
We’re seeking an experienced Power Generator Technician to join a skilled team supporting mission-critical power systems at data centers. Position Overview:
As a Power Generator Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of standby and emergency diesel generator systems at data center facilities. This is a home-daily position with a take-home service truck , tools, and company-provided resources to support your work in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on diesel and natural gas generator systems , automatic transfer switches (ATS), and switchgear at data center locations.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair generator engines, fuel systems, cooling systems, and electrical components.
Respond to service calls, perform load bank testing, and ensure full system readiness for emergency power scenarios.
Accurately document service reports, maintenance logs, and parts used in compliance with customer and internal standards.
Coordinate with onsite data center personnel and electrical contractors to maintain uptime and power continuity.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring high standards in cleanroom or secure facility environments.
Participate in an on-call rotation as needed for emergency service work (overtime available).
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience working on industrial diesel generator systems (brands such as Cummins, CAT, MTU, Kohler, Generac , etc.).
Familiarity with generator controls, paralleling switchgear, and load transfer systems in mission-critical environments.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (CDL not required).
Must be able to pass background screening for secure site access.
