The City of Bay Village is currently holding a competitive examination for the position of Entry Level Police Officer from April 15, 2025 through June 1, 2025.
To be considered for employment as a Police Officer with the City of Bay Village the following is required:
Completion of a competitive examination by June 1, 2025.
Completion of the City of Bay Village Civil Service application by June 1, 2025.
If the items above are not submitted the candidate will not be considered.
Additional Credits to Scores: To be added to the passing examination score, not to exceed a total of ten (10) points.
Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or Police Science Associate Degree, OR Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university in any field. (5 points)
Current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) Certification for full time officer, plus two years' experience (or 4160 hours equivalent) in the field (municipal or township police officer, deputy sheriff, university police officer, Ohio State Patrol Officer, or Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Officer). (5 points)
Current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) Certification without experience. (2 points)
Honorably discharged veteran having served at least one continuous year of active military service in the Armed Forces of the United States. (5 points)
Documentation to receive additional credit must be submitted with the Civil Service application

2025 RATES OF PAY
Probationary $65,156 base annual salary/$31.32 Hourly Rate
After 1 year $70,975 base annual salary/$34.12 Hourly Rate
After 2 years $80,038 base annual salary/$38.48 Hourly Rate
After 3 years $90,724 base annual salary/$43.62 Hourly Rate

Applicants must be able to complete a wide range of physical activities, including lifting, carrying, reaching, climbing, bending, swatting, pushing/pulling, twisting/turning, keyboarding, sitting, standing, walking, crawling and running.
