Job Description

The Director of Product for the Bible App is primarily responsible for leading the Product Management team responsible for our flagship experience. This role sets the vision, drives strategy, and ensures cross-functional execution in partnership with Design, Engineering, Research, and Data. The Director helps the team prioritize high-impact initiatives, align with organizational and missional goals, and shepherd product managers in their craft and character development. The Director is responsible for collaborating with their executive leader to cast vision, provide direction, and lead ministry efforts within their area of influence to outcomes that further Life.Church’s mission and reach people for Christ.

YouVersion was created by the local church in 2007 and remains a ministry of Life.Church today. At Life.Church, our mission is to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ. Our team is committed to reaching people worldwide through innovative technology. And YouVersion is one of the ways we get to do that. Life.Church is a multi-site Christian church meeting in the United States and globally at Life.Church Online.

We wholeheartedly believe a daily rhythm of seeking intimacy with God has the power to transform lives. That’s why YouVersion creates biblically-based experiences that encourage and challenge people to seek God. We hope everyone in our community is on an active journey to become who God made them to be, abiding in Him, and drawing closer every day.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the strategic direction for the Bible App, ensuring it reflects Life.Church's mission and vision.
  • Provide servant leadership for a growing team of Product Managers—setting clear expectations, offering regular coaching, and developing growth plans.
  • Articulate vision and priorities clearly across YouVersion leadership and Life.Church executive teams.
  • Partner closely with Research and Design to create a clear pipeline of user-informed, outcome-focused product opportunities.
  • Maintain a healthy team culture centered on ministry purpose, excellence, and collaboration.
  • Oversee a product development process that values both discovery and delivery, balancing user feedback, data insights, and Spirit-led innovation.
  • Champion data-informed decision-making, ensuring that experiments, instrumentation, and success metrics are tightly aligned with the transformation funnel(Install → Account Creation → MAU → DAU → DAU 4x/week).
  • Prioritize roadmap initiatives based on their impact on spiritual habits like daily Scripture reading, prayer, and community interaction.
  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Research, QA, and Data to create streamlined, scalable workflows and efficient handoffs.
  • Lead cross-functional planning and coordination for feature releases, retrospectives, and sprint cycles.
  • Drive clear communication, documentation, and project tracking for high-visibility workstreams.
  • Partner with fellow leaders to shape team-wide best practices in product craft, sprint rituals, and tooling.
  • Steward team resources through strategic hiring, budgeting, and vendor collaboration as needed.

Skills Needed to Succeed
  • Strategic thinker who can cast long-term vision while delivering near-term outcomes.
  • Experienced in leading cross-functional teams in agile product environments.
  • Strong mentor with proven experience developing product managers and nurturing culture.
  • Excellent communicator able to simplify complex concepts and influence across departments and levels.
  • Deep understanding of funnel metrics, user behavior data, and experimentation methods.
  • Passionate about digital discipleship and creating products that help people grow in their faith.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of related work experience.
