Job Description

The University Police Department provides safety services for the Anchorage campus and residential halls. Made up of sworn officers, a chief, sergeants, dispatchers, non-sworn security, civilian records professionals, and student workers, we show up every day to help students accomplish their educational goals in peace and safety. The University Police Department at the University of Alaska Anchorage is seeking applicants for a Campus Security Supervisor. We are looking for individuals who will be dedicated to increasing the overall safety environment of campus.

Should have the physical and mental capabilities to properly carry out responsibilities and duties as a Campus Security Officer of The University of Alaska Anchorage Police Department. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive a University owned and/or leased motor vehicle. Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation, as directed by University of Alaska Board of Regents Policy, Alaska Police Standards Council, and FBI – Criminal Justice Information Systems requirements. Must be able to provide creditable testimony in a court of law.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive.

To thrive in this role the successful candidate will have 3-5 years experience in the security field, event staffing, or public safety. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate how to successfully lead/supervise a team with proven organization skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school, vocational school or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and  full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the  UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 80, based on education and experience.

This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.

As a condition of employment, the final candidate must submit a UAA-UPD F3 Nonsworn Applicant Personal History Statement, successfully pass a criminal background check, and obtain a FBI & Alaska Department of Public Safety CJIS Security Clearance.
