Position Description

Seattle University College of Nursing invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty to teach at the BSN through DNP levels. Applications are accepted throughout the year, with openings available in a variety of specialties.

We seek outstanding nurses with at least one year of experience in their specialties to teach clinically in the following areas: medical-surgical nursing, reproductive health nursing, pediatric nursing, psychiatric/mental health nursing, population health, and geriatric nursing. In addition, we welcome applicants with advanced practice certification and two years of clinical experience to teach graduate students in care systems leadership, midwifery and several nurse practitioner tracks: Family, Adult-Gerontology (Acute and Primary Care), and Family Psychiatric Mental Health.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and the University's mission, vision and values. The College emphasizes care of underserved and marginalized populations, both locally and abroad. In concert with our Jesuit mission, we are dedicated to social justice and formation for leadership. The faculty is committed to graduating the highest quality nurses, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Nationally respected neighboring health and research institutions offer opportunities for collaboration; Seattle University faculty, staff and students are eager to engage in interdisciplinary work. Additional information is available at

Depending upon specialty and site, prelicensure clinical courses are taught from one to two days a week; eight hour or twelve-hour shifts; days, evenings, or nights; weekdays or weekends; and in a variety of clinical sites throughout King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties.

Qualifications

A master's degree plus two years of clinical experience is preferred for all faculty positions; however, applicants with a baccalaureate degree in nursing and three years of experience in the specialty will be considered for prelicensure courses only. Applicants should hold an unencumbered license to practice Washington State as a Registered Nurse. Advanced practice faculty must also hold WA State licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP).
